The Challenge
The Cooyar Creek Crossing Trail passes through the well-known Cooyar Creek and this was a challenge because of the high water volume which passes through this creek each year and the inability to use culverts.

With this in mind, the creek crossing project had to be designed so that the crossing would withstand the water volume and not wash away.
The Solution
The solution for the Cooyar Creek Crossing challenge was an obvious one, being the design had to include a bed-level concrete crossing. This ensured with the high volume of water each year, the creek crossing would not get washed away or displaced.

Additionally, for added benefits, the design was cast in situ to avoid procurement issues.

The Benefit
Council had a tight deadline, which Proterra Group was able to achieve.

By using a collaborative approach, we were able to provide a fit for purpose design created with the end user in mind.

Towards the end of the project, a construction cost saving was identified; changing the trail from a 3.5m wide to a 3.0m wide trail. Proterra Group was able to facilitate this change for Council without any detriment to design or deadlines.
The Result
The design was completed; efficiently, on time, with a robust design, and with great collaboration with the client.

The design was completed to all standards and reduced construction costs by designing a 3.0m path instead of the original 3.5m path. With all of this, the client was able to gather our design and send it out to tender onsite.
