The Challenge
A crucial road used for both recreation and industry within the Benarkin State Forest started to slump due to the collapse of an old corrugated iron culvert. The road was able to be reduced to a single lane initially however, the continual slump meant the road later had to be closed entirely.

The 1500mm diameter corrugated iron culvert needed to be replaced with a reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) but the SEQ shortage meant the road could be closed for up to 12 months while the RCP was being procured.
The Solution
Proterra Group were able to utilise industry contacts to procure the lengths of pipe and have them delivered within a fortnight from DES' first contact. Proterra Group managed and supervised the culvert installation and was able to work with the contractor to quickly reopen the road.

The Result
We were able to minimise the road closure and work with the contractor already engaged by DES in the area to quickly restore the road.
